Vasota is famous for it’s jungle trek.Vasota is a hill fort located near Bamnoli in Satara. The height of this fort is around 3842 feet from sea level.The trek starts through ferry boat from bamnoli and it’s takes around 1.30 hrs.The trek is full of thrilling experience as one would be walking through a dense jungle during the entire route. This is every trekkers dream trek as the beautiful views that it efforts are breath taking.
Permission from the forest department:
As Vasota trek is a jungle trek, there are certain policies and rules that one should follow before and while go to trek .One has to take a permit from the Forest Department at Bamnoli to go to Vasota or one can get packages which includes (food, camping, permission, breakfast, boating. etc) from the hotels guys from bamnoli .Take some government ID along with you as that’s kind of mandatory to get the permit.Don’t worry about permission you can get this easily by just filling a form.
Camping or Stay –One can bring there own tents or can rent on from hotel guys you can get easily and you can setup your tent near lakeside. Rooms are also available in Bamnoli can rent as well.You don’t need any permission for camping in Bamnoli ..
If You are Planning To Visit :Vasota is located in middle in between Pune and Sangli in Satara.From Pune to reach Satara which is at a distance of 110 kms from Pune Station and From Sangli Station it takes around 125 kms .Once you reach Satara bus station, you need to reach the village Bamnoli which is the base village and at a distance of 40 kms around fromSatara and it’s takes around 1.15 hrs .
From Bamnoli there are ferryboats which will take you to the base of the fort in indoli 1.15 to 1.30 hrs boat ride from Bamnoli, in the SHIVSAGAR LAKE water will take you the fort base to start your trek.The ferryboat ride will cost you around Rs. 3500- 4000 (1-12 persons).If you are not in group it’s takes Rs. 400 per head including permission.While going take a big group around 12 people so you can save some money as well.You can Experience the lake surrounded by beautiful mountains.Vosata is closed during rainy season.Important things –
- 1. Difficulty level – Moderate ( 1st time trekers can too visit ).
- Carry water bottles as much you can.
- Don’t visit during weekends (Crowrd is more).
- Book before visiting (boating, food , camping,etc.)
